Chris O’Neill, managing partner, co-founded Vortex Partners in 1999. He led the firm’s investments in Paetec Communications, Axes Technologies, Real Foundations, BroadJump (acquired by Motive, Nasdaq: MOTV), OpsTechnology, and Real Manage. Prior to co-founding Vortex Partners, he was a partner with the family office investment company EFO Holdings. Before EFO, he was with PaineWebber's investment banking division. Additionally, he has been an invited guest lecturer on venture capital and private equity investing at numerous universities over the past five years. Chris earned his MBA from Stanford University and has a B.S. degree in chemical engineering and a B.A. degree in economics from Rice University.

TOM HEDRICK - Venture Partner

Tom Hedrick is an accomplished executive and investor, having been a senior partner at the international strategy consulting firm McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, where he worked for 15 years, he led or co-led the North American High Tech Practice and the Texas Venture Capital and Private Equity Practice. He was also part of that firm’s Worldwide Principal Review Committee. Most recently, he led McKinsey’s Dallas office with over 120 employees. Tom's high tech background and interests include software, personal computing, storage and services. While advising high tech clients at McKinsey, Tom gained deep expertise in developing successful growth strategies for marketing, sales, product line expansions, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property. Since 1994, Tom has also been an active and successful individual private equity investor in a variety of high tech sectors including software and services, business process outsourcing, VoIP networking, semiconductors and advanced materials. Tom received his MBA from the Harvard Business School and his B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
